ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the mentioned, professionals agree that education programs must teach children with autism spectrum disorder to become more responsive to their environments, and especially to the people in their lives. The category of controlled presentations includes Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Direct Instruction (DI), and di. Because of this and its error correction procedures, well-implemented DTT results in a high percentage of successful responses. DI also is based on principles of applied behavior analysis. Effective DI involves carefully planned instruction provided in small learning increments. The consequence is the stimulus following the response. Consequences may increase the chance that the response will occur again (reinforcers) or decrease the chance the response will happen again. Antecedent control is the manipulation of cues or conditions in the environment in an effort to trigger a behavior. Implementing antecedent control serves to trigger more acceptable responses and helps to minimize inappropriate behaviors.
