ABSTRACT

Having Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects how most students do in school at some point, but it doesn’t affect everyone the same way or at the same time. Some of the reader's may have breezed through the early school years before anyone even noticed them had ADHD. Most kids with ADHD are first diagnosed when they are in elementary school. The readers may have noticed some problems themselves in first or second grade. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a United States federal law that provides special services for students to help them succeed in school. It was modified many times and most recently, in 2004, IDEA was changed to include the term “Response to Intervention” as the first step for children who are struggling in school.
