ABSTRACT

This chapter develops an organizational system and strategies for managing homework. It teaches techniques to make the homework easier to tackle, and therefore more appealing. There are three steps which can create a system to prioritize and keep track of the homework assignments. These steps include identify strengths and weaknesses, manage time, and create a schedule. This important first step will give the most insight into how to improve the homework skills. One student with Asperger’s syndrome (AS) or Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NLD) may have difficulty remembering to turn in her homework, even when it is done. Another student with AS or NLD might not know where to begin his homework when he gets home from school, while a third student with AS or NLD might be very set by routine and always have a specific time slot during the day allocated to homework.
