ABSTRACT

This chapter provides examples of how the differentiation features of complexity, depth, and abstractness can be applied to questioning, tasks, and products with the compilation of social studies. After an introduction emphasizing important skills in social studies, models are provided to support various ways students can analyze historical events, documents, and the contribution of individuals. Multiple perspectives, ideas, and key questions are emphasized. The authors also make connections from specific social studies ideas to develop abstract concepts and generalizations with the product and assessment examples provided.
