One way to prepare children for living in two different homes is by using books. Most children readily relate to a book’s character and One way to prepare children for living in two different homes is by using books. Children enjoy being read to and these are books we can read to and with our child to reinforce and teach impulse control skills. Although divorce occurs within a home, it also disrupts our child’s school functioning. For a child with executive functioning difficulty, homework is often a nightly battle and divorce intensifies the struggle. Homework should only be reviewing previously taught skills, so if our child has not learned what he or she is doing for homework, then arrange a conference with the teacher.
