ABSTRACT

This chapter address the significance of an authentic audience in an IBL project. Often, authentic products go hand-in-hand with authentic audiences. In fact, it has become a household term because an increasingly linked world has made connecting student-created content with others so easy. There are a number of significant reasons for providing students with the opportunity to present their work to an authentic audience. Powerful interaction with real audiences is no longer limited to the state or local community. The audiences for Andrea’s and Pablo’s IBL dictated themselves, so to speak. Andrea chose to complete a stop motion animation iMovie to showcase interviews with middle schoolers in a documentary called Middle School Madness.
