ABSTRACT

The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don’t define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Most educators continue to be guided by the CCSS or similar state standards, as well as other sets of standards put forward by content area councils, such as the NGSS and the C3 Framework. Initiative, referring to a personal trait, has multiple meanings. Teachers may simply assume that most students have picked up this skill and mindset just by being in school. But educators’ assumptions may be working to students’ disadvantage. The final technique for helping to ensure student accountability is a gallery walk. During the gallery walk every student must participate because each one reviews and makes notes about the successes and challenges showcased on the wall.
