It was an experiment ordered by Soviet Union leader Nikita Khrushchev. And in 1961, no one living in the USSR wanted to say no to Khrushchev—not if they wanted to stay out of prison. So the scientists of the USSR scrambled to create Tsar Bomba, the largest nuclear bomb in the world.
