ABSTRACT

Gifted educators’ roles include direct service and advocacy for the gifted child, including academic, social, and emotional development. It is important to recognize that giftedness impacts the development of the whole child, which involves both external and internal factors. Numerous partners need to be involved in the collaboration process depending on the specific needs and abilities of the child. Educators from special education, English language learner education, and poverty-related programs all play key roles in the development of talent in gifted children who are impacted by other factors within their lives. Parents must be perceived as both a source and a recipient of pertinent information, as well as partners in the educational process. Rather than making talent development a highly individualistic, ad hoc process, administrators play a key role in systematizing an educational program that can provide progression within the disciplines for talented students.
