ABSTRACT

There are some very basic technology skills that must be in place, before describing the Type II processes in technology. These skills are the foundational skills that all students need to function in a technology-rich world. In the same way that reading, writing, and basic arithmetic were the skills necessary for successful living in the 20th century, technology basics have become necessary for successful living in the 21st century. Digital citizenship, sometimes known as digital wellness or digital ethics, can be characterized as the norms of appropriate and responsible technology use. One of the challenges in educational settings today is the fact that technology is always changing and advancing. Access varies widely across students based on family culture, socioeconomic status, and teachers’ use of technology in the classroom. Understanding the criteria that defines quality will help students not only improve capacity for searching the Internet, but also improve the quality of their own personal website.
