ABSTRACT

Type III investigations are the means through which everything from basic skills to advanced content and process skills blends together into student-developed products and services. This chapter presents a case study of Christy, who does a lot of work to help her students communicate their interests. Once students have identified their true passion and successfully pitched an idea, planning must necessarily take place. Students' independence and autonomy are supported with the inclusion of a timeline and the opportunity for students to be integral in the planning and support process. Learning contracts provide clear communication between the student and those responsible to ensure his or her continued growth. The contract itself communicates and clearly defines the resources, expectations, timeline with benchmarks, and responsibilities for the student. Students have begun to explore the art of photography and selfies, some students may wish to conduct their own Type III project related to selfies and self-portraits.
