ABSTRACT

The student demonstrates the ability to organize the parts of an argument and synthesize research by producing a united front with his or her team for a debate. Prior to the debate, meet with each debate team to review its work to date and to make recommendations for the improvement of final preparations. Students complete tasks to ensure that they are prepared for the upcoming debate. Students practice for the upcoming debate and then stage debates with opposing teams. Students rehearse debating techniques within their teams. The student selects appropriate words or explains the use of words in context, including content-specific vocabulary, words with multiple meanings, and precise vocabulary.
