ABSTRACT

We analyze the innovation capabilities of Korean companies by utilizing various data measures related to innovation input and output. Our input measures include R&D investment, R&D investment composition, and R&D personnel, while our output measures describe the number of patent registrations and patent citations. We conduct a qualitative analysis using patent data that simultaneously leverages the number of patent registrations, as well as the number of citations and degree of radicalness, doing so to support our conclusions. In addition, our use of the KISVALUE database enables us to delve into the financialization process of Korean companies using a variety of indicators.
