ABSTRACT

Co-production as an empirical concept was introduced into mental health services in the past decade or so. However, attention is still focussed on its implementation and to some extent sustainability within a variety of service contexts. Consequently, other chapters have already identified that co-production is perhaps on a critical juncture where scholars need to decide whether co-production is worth the time and effort of its establishment within mental health care. However, one can argue that more information is required before a decision on this scale can be made. As such, this chapter discusses the organisational cultural change required for co-production to be fully implemented in an authentic fashion within mental health care. Additionally, a set of twenty-three recommendations for future research activities will also be presented in the hopes that these twenty-three research suggestions can demonstrate to scholars the value of this concept for recovery-orientated mental health service provision, not just in Ireland but internationally as well.
