ABSTRACT

After a brief look at Falloppia’s most important students and successors, this final chapter traces the publishing history of the student notes on his numerous lectures in the various editions of his Opera, which were accompanied by fierce controversies between competing printers in Venice and Frankfurt. In conclusion, the Secreti are discussed, the most popular work that appeared under Falloppia’s, with numerous editions in Italian and German. It is clearly a spurious work but it underscores Falloppia’s fame not only as an anatomist but also as a successful practitioner – and possessor of secrets.
