ABSTRACT

Chapter 8 provides foundational knowledge of occupation-focused and occupation-based evaluation. Terminology on this topic is discussed along with key considerations for implementation of evaluation. The process of gathering information, developing an occupational profile, selecting assessment tools, synthesizing information, and goal planning is presented along with information on occupation-based tools. Examples of occupation-based assessments such as the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS), the Model of Human Occupation Screening Tool (MOHOST), and others are discussed. Therapist examples of implementing occupation-based evaluation in practice are included, along with case examples. The chapter concludes with practical suggestions for goal development in preparation for intervention.
