ABSTRACT

Chapter 9 introduces occupation-based and occupation-focused intervention and strategies to foster health and well-being through occupation. Concepts of top-down and bottom-up approaches to intervention are discussed along with the use of occupation as a means and an end. Case examples are provided to illustrate the importance of context in selecting interventions approaches. The chapter also includes examples of service delivery to groups and populations and concludes with a discussion of the therapeutic use of self in the occupational therapy process.
