ABSTRACT
This chapter emphasizes how critical it is for the writer to understand genres in order to write mixed-genre screenplays. This chapter shows how mixing genres offers the writer several narrative opportunities, offering surprise and novelty by undermining audience expectations and providing new dimensions to old stories.
