ABSTRACT

Color and design are natural partners because color is a common element in good design. It is used to emphasize and accent the features of a design or product, and it can make a product better, more usable, or more pleasing to the eye. Color grabs attention. Studies have shown that on average, a reader will spend a fraction of a second scanning a black-and-white ad on a page. Many designers started out as fine art students before developing an interest in more commercially viable fields. The relationship between design and the fine arts is evident in the early work of Stefan Sagmeister. There was a resurgence of the primacy of color in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Companies are very concerned with how their product, logo, packaging or other important identifying factors are presented to the public. One of the most important color relationships for animators and motion graphic designers is the use of warm and cool colors.
