ABSTRACT

In this part of the book, we discuss several aspects of capacity analysis: (1) What is capacity analysis? (2) capacity analysis as part of a design process; (3) a methodological problem; (4) evaluating possible uses; (5) how capacity links form to function; (6) the use of zones and margins; (7) zones and margins as part of capacity analysis; (8) zones and margins in urban design; (9) using zones and margins: an example in housing design: sectors and basic variants; (10) grids as design tools for buildings and urban tissues: kinds of grids; grids in urban design; and (11) summary of the use of grids in designing.
