ABSTRACT

The operational management plan do check act cycle is essentially a system that an organisation uses on a day-to-day basis as part of normal operations to ensure that it meets minimum performance requirements. Within organisations without a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture, it is the ‘first implementation step' of the CI journey as it forms the foundation from which all improvement activities are initiated and ultimately sustained. Visual management for each review should include trend charts versus targets, action logs and any other relevant data and facts that support the effective running of the operation. Senior Leadership being seen on the shop floor and visibly confirming with the teams that the CI process is happening to standard is crucial. This embeds the CI culture.
