ABSTRACT

The reason for strategy deployment is principally to turn Continuous Improvement (CI) into a ‘strategic weapon' that incorporates all areas of the organisation in an aligned strategy that will keep it winning in the marketplace. It is also about making breakthrough improvements and/or changes in direction. Strategy deployment is a plan, do, check, act cycle for a whole organisation where the ‘plan' is the strategy of the organisation: it is a 3–5 year plan for organisational success. Although the iterative process may be slower than traditional planning processes, it is very much more effective and in line with the well-known sayings ‘measure twice and cut once' and ‘perfect planning prevents poor performance'.
