ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the importance of evolving in an ever-changing environment. The music industry is subject to constant change through tech innovation and musicians are advised to create multiple streams of revenue to maintain a stable income even if there is a major change in business demand. The author nods to Eric Ries, author of ‘The Lean Startup’ and how it's important to periodically reflect on what is and what isn’t working in a music artist's strategy (pivot or persevere). The author notes the importance of diversification within the music industry to aid sustainability. Contributors to this chapter include independent music producer Seids, music business advisor Mike Burgess and Daniel Manzano of Boyce Avenue.
