ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the focus of the book, which is the question of how and why co-production between non-profit professionals and citizens varies in different contexts. Following a reflection on three vignettes of co-production in Sheffield, Lyon, and Montreal, it outlines the core concepts of the research. These concepts are the co-production of public services, non-profit organizations, and institutional logics. Finally, the chapter lays out the overall research design of the study and outlines the structure of the book.
