ABSTRACT
Detail and depth to the underlying foundations of this book are discussed in this chapter. The rationale for this unique study, that shifts the research lens to focus on mainstream Australian culture from an Indigenous Australian point of inquiry, is put forward here. Basic explanations of culture and identity and necessary background knowledge base for engaging with the concepts of two disparate cultures are discussed in readiness for greater analysis and discussion in later chapters.
