ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a summary of the healing story of reclaiming well-being, and the differences and similarities between the two disparate, yet deeply entwined, cultures of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. Here the proceeds of reciprocal knowledge sharing and building intercultural respect are displayed, with some of the paradoxes and contradictions expressed by members of the mainstream culture indicating opportunities for positive change, and a nascent cultural shift in progress. As the following and final chapter shows, this emerging Australian culture made a decisive shift away from the coloniser culture in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
