ABSTRACT

There is at times a thin line between speculation and prediction. The deadly virus may have operated with a specific lifespan in human body and its manifestations and consequences may have taken place within a particular span of time but there is no doubt that its impact will remain for decades. The pandemic created by COVID-19 virus is certainly not the first one in history. Even in the corona category of viruses it is not the first but only the seventh in line of succession. Bringing some order into the disorder requires a collective resistance in a deeper political sense – beyond some tactical and strategic manoeuvring here and there. One only wishes one could have a more optimistic and reassuring tone and tenor in the concluding observations. The COVID-19 pandemic having proved to be a civilisational crisis it is better to sign off, as is being done here, with a tantalisingly open stance.
