ABSTRACT
Chapter Seven describes and comments on developments in the formal and informal policing of communities. It looks at the role which crime prevention has played within policing organizations and how the police have responded and related to different community formations. It also explores ways in which communities’ commitment to the prevention of crime has been more informally policed through micro-management and audit of community organizations and local governance.
