ABSTRACT
An understanding of the motivations, personality, and philosophy of Mu’ammar al-Qadhafi is essential to an understanding of modern Libya. It is Qadhafi’s ideas that permeate the country and his fervor that has propelled Libyan domestic and foreign policy since the revolution. Without Qadhafi Libya would be a very different country socially, economically, and politically. Certainly, without him Libya’s foreign relations would be much different.
