Listening to the voices of global university presidents is important to understand higher education. In this interview, Professor Wim de Villiers, rector and vice chancellor of Stellenbosch University, discusses personal experiences, leadership insights and arrangements, the institution, and future challenges and opportunities shaping higher education. Key points include adopting a stance to set strategic direction for the institution, delegating and trusting people and partnerships, fundraising and engagement, seeding value-creating partnerships, and ensuring sustainability.
