Listening to the voices of global university presidents is important to understand higher education. In this interview, Professor Nancy Rothwell, president and vice chancellor of the University of Manchester, discusses personal experiences, leadership insights and arrangements, the institution, and future challenges and opportunities shaping higher education. President Rothwell talks about how she distributes her time between internal management and external liaison, the need to be personally engaged with the institution and in community affairs, the importance of good dynamics and balance within the senior leadership team, and the role of the top leader in internal and broader social change.
