Depicting the Italian Peninsula and the islands of Corsica, Sardo, and Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea, as recorded by Ptolemy. The major issue regarding Ptolemy’s placement of the Italian peninsula, and one that affects the Guide as whole, is that Italy is turned too far toward the east. Depicting the islands of Sardo, and Sicily, the largest in the Mediterranean, in antiquity as recorded by Ptolemy. Sardo is the second largest island in the Mediterranean. Ptolemy located three thermal springs on the island, again unusual in a limited location. Sikelia is the largest island in the Mediterranean.
