ABSTRACT

Chadō is a refined form of Japanese art. It is so in-depth that every time we practice chadō, there are often new elements that we come to encounter. In chadō, every day is training, every day we start with bowing, expressing our humbleness. This first chapter presents the narrative of my mother in order to raise some interest in chadō. While chadō might sound like a culture that exists far away from our daily lives, this chadō is someone’s daily life, the path in someone’s life, someone’s reason to live. Along with my mother’s life story, this first chapter also introduces the nature and direction of this book.
