ABSTRACT

This chapter offers basic knowledge of bonryaku demae, the most basic tea procedure and how to be a guest: how to bow, sit, and have sweets and tea. This chapter also indicates what to wear and what to bring for a tea gathering when readers are invited for tea gatherings in the future. For usual chadō training, practitioners are first encouraged to learn tea procedure by simple observation and continuous practice. If it is necessary, they are only recommended to review the written text. However, this written format, like this chapter, is beneficial for us who want to explore tea procedures by ourselves.
