Balahvar answered: ‘O king’s son, this situation recalls to mind the story of a certain nobleman, who had a beloved son. And for his 97son he reared a wild gazelle, and attached a little bell to its neck. It used to go out to graze in the fields according to its wont, but on one occasion it joined with other gazelles and followed them off into the forest. When they discovered that the gazelle had gone off into the depths of the woods, its keepers went off to search for the gazelle and found it in company with other wild animals. These they slew, and they seized the gazelle and took it home.
