This chapter lists a variety of ways in which freeze-frames can be employed to support reading for meaning with children aged 7–11. From exploring key moments in a story, to identifying the main idea in a section of information text, the freeze-frame offers a simple but creative way to investigate a text based on evidence. Sculpting is also included in this chapter as another way of depicting the essence of a text through a frozen image.
