ABSTRACT

This chapter details the learning triangle, the components needed for learning to occur – content, engagement, and structure. Structure refers to the physical and emotional qualities of a classroom that make students feel safe and energized to participate in the learning. Engagement refers to opportunities for students to respond to the material and create a feedback loop with the teacher. Teaching examples in multiple disciplines are given. The idea of leveraging components of the learning triangle to maximize student learning and build on teachers' strengths is explored at the end of the chapter, along with additional specific examples.
