ABSTRACT

This chapter first explains the general types of visual aids, how are they used in a speech, and what are the design principles and general guidelines for using PowerPoint effectively. It then describes the four general audience types, the four methods for delivering a speech, and the best delivery styles for each audience. The chapter further provides guidelines for choosing effective language, and what are the important aspects of physical delivery that help speakers communicate their messages. It explores the four attributes of the human voice, how do they impact speech delivery, and what other vocal problems can interfere with effective delivery. The chapter also examines why it is important to cite sources during a presentation, and what are the basic guidelines for citing them. It finally provides important advice should speakers keep in mind as they begin final preparation for a speech.
