ABSTRACT
This chapter reviews the recent calls to regulate the support workforce, but notes that formal regulation is unlikely in the near future. As a result, it is important for patient safety and effective service delivery that processes and procedures are in place to ensure safe delegation of tasks to support staff and appropriate supervision. Factors that may shape registered staff’s decisions to delegate or not are considered.
