ABSTRACT
In Chapter 1, “Turning Theory into Practice: Abilities Needed to Grow,” you are introduced to eight practical abilities necessary for a successful field experience. These abilities allow you as a novice helping professional to address the fears and concerns of beginning a field experience. This chapter emphasizes the importance of getting started correctly by identifying fears and concerns that may interfere with your progress. Eight needed abilities and skills are addressed to assist you in growing during your field experience:
