Mildred Trotter made a now well-known error in her tibia measurement in stature estimation publications. This chapter provides novel historical details on the error, a discussion of the events at the time, how posterity has treated this mistake, and a discussion of scientific error. This provides in-depth specifics of tibia measurement and measurement standards, the data available during the 1952 and 1958 publications, and the uncovering of Trotter's mistake.
