ABSTRACT

The Introduction contains a basic motivation to carry out research related to epidemic risk reduction. There are described reasons why the disaster risk reduction approach is cognitively reasonable to be conceptually connected with civil protection concept. Current world safety and security determinants prove this methodological assumption and direct fundamental actions to present a meta-language for improvement of common efforts made by epidemiologists and, especially, non-epidemiologists. Particular chapters are described in general. Thus, a research structure is presented and a main research methodology is reflected. A special attention is put on issues that make the book valuable from the perspective of a wide spectrum of potential readers who represent public administration, health service, entrepreneurs, public services, armed forces, non-government organisations, and all those who undertake huge efforts in epidemic everyday life to protect what is the most important – human health and life, as well as property and the environment within a scope necessary for people to survive.
