ABSTRACT

The House of the Immediate Future was a collaboration between Habitat for Humanity Seattle-King County; Miller Hull, a Seattle-based architecture firm that specializes in environmentally sensitive design; and Method Homes, a modular housing prefabrication company. Initiated for the Seattle Center Next 50 celebration, the home’s innovation and collaboration were driven by the Habitat affiliate, and they push the envelope in terms of performance and flexibility—particularly in the home’s ability to be deconstructed and reassembled. The house was built twice, once on the grounds of the Seattle Center for the Next 50 celebration and finally in Seattle for a Habitat for Humanity partner family.
