ABSTRACT

The two houses on Seymour Street in Middlebury, Vermont, are the result of a collaboration between Habitat for Humanity of Addison County and Middlebury College’s Department of Architecture. The homes were built to exceed Vermont’s highest energy standards and advance Habitat of Addison County’s construction of energy-efficient housing. Both houses achieved net-zero energy use through the addition of solar panels. Representatives from the college worked with the town of Middlebury and Habitat Addison County to develop the two net-zero houses that sit on a single lot in the downtown area.
