ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 introduces the evolution of the “history” of the art of performance from hybridism to meta-hybridism: accentuating its historical continuities and metamorphoses; the non-antagonistic relationship between the hybridity and specificity of the art of performance; the rediscovery of the archives of performance by contemporary Portuguese artists and, based on them, the creation of works of various artistic formats (performance, installation, dance, video and film) with meta-performative and meta-discursive characteristics. Some of these works and their specificities will be addressed (linked to a hybrid, essentially post-memory, perspective, between creation and archive, performance and reenactment).
