ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the evolution of drone technology. This chapter also discusses the evolution of the definition of drones and by what names they have been known over the last century. This chapter also outlines the rules and regulations applicable to drones in the EU, in addition to the different ways in which drones can be classified in the civilian sphere. The chapter ends by enumerating some of the uses to which drones are put in the civilian sphere, such as transporting critical medical supplies.
