ABSTRACT
The interactions of students with the residents, patients, inmates, youth and staff will be as individual as there are personalities and topics of discussion. But special guidelines are needed when working in an institutional environment. This chapter includes such matters as avoiding emotional involvement, balancing artwork and social interaction, resisting judgmental attitudes and responses, cautions about interpreting artwork and about self-disclosure. Overall guidelines for presenters to follow are offered to ensure successful interrelationships.
