ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the value of genuine expressive art activity, as opposed to the product-oriented activities more generally offered in institutional settings. The informal social interaction between student presenters and participants is emphasized alongside the art activities presented. It is that magic mix that makes the program as efficacious as it is unique. It must be noted that although the art activities are therapeutic, the presenters are not therapists trained in that excellent field and are cautioned to make no attempt to treat individual problems.
