ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 examines the effect of the reform of the household registration system in large and medium-sized cities from 2003 to 2006. General statistics and the DID method with control variables are used to conduct quantitative research into the substitution effect of the household registration system reform on the total rural labor mobility as well as the mobility of labor to large and medium-sized cities rather than megacities such as provincial capitals. This chapter also discusses the micro-factors that affect labor mobility.
