ABSTRACT
This chapter is about understanding the fundamentals of what a showbusiness multi-hyphenate is. In order to do so, one must understand what a survival job is and why that term is outdated. By switching the term to for-now job, it becomes more positive and assuring. In the 21st century, there are many more ways one can ‘survive’ thanks to social media and access. Therefore, what happens when a for-now job becomes a part of one’s artistic identity? When that happens, an artist’s audience and potential grow immensely, starting the first glimmers into multi-hyphenating. An artist can then call upon anyone of their proficiencies and begin creating, allowing those efforts to affect the different aspects of oneself. The Career Connection focuses on producers so that an artist can behind the mindset that as multi-hyphenates, they will either be working as producers and/or engaging as producers. The Exercise is “Google Yourself” promoting awareness of social media appearance.
